Renewable energy in South Africa
Wind, solar PV, concentrated solar and the other renewables reporting to Eskom have supplied 78 628.4 GWh since April 2022, about 8.2% of everything the grid produced. The connected fleet stands at roughly 7 573 MW. The share is growing, but slowly: the yearly figures below tell the story without spin.

The shape of the problem
Solar peaks at midday and is gone by the evening peak, when demand is highest; wind is the one renewable still producing at 18:00. The time-of-day page shows this hour by hour. Eskom's own planning implied about 6.0% more renewable output over the last year than the fleet delivered, a gap the forecast accuracy chart tracks continuously.
